On Thursday, March 21, 2024, U.S. Court of Appeals will be hearing a case regarding Line 5, Dana Nessel v. Enbridge Energy, in which Michigan Attorney General, Dana Nessel will be presenting an argument to bring the case back to state court. Enbridge would like this case in Federal court. Please click here to find out more about the case.
Join MEJC as we follow the lead of indigenous water protector’s in our state who see this as a necessary next step in the legal strategy to Shut Down Line 5 and protect our precious Great Lakes.
MEJC will have a bus traveling to Cincinnati, OH (full-day, round trip). We will be meeting at MEJC offices (2701 Bagley, Detroit, MI) at 7:00 a.m. and returning at approximately 9:30 p.m. There is limited seating at the courthouse and we have no guarantee that we will all be inside the courthouse. If you do get a courthouse seat, you will need a valid ID to enter, and there are no signs or banners allowed. If not, we will gather outside. We are going to support in a good way. Meals will be available for those riding the bus.
Most of us will be peacefully standing outside the courthouse for several hours. Please dress accordingly. Here is the link to register for the MEJC free bus trip leaving from Detroit, if you or others are able to join us for this important event in Cincinnati.
